The library

After a very long three day weekend and a few more tweaks, the library is almost done. At least, its done enough to show the results. This is a long post, folks, so buckle your seatbelts--it will be a long ride.

Oh! And let's not forget that I did this all by myself. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I'm just so proud of myself.

Anyway, to the pictures...

When we first toured the house, the room was (eh-hem) interestingly decorated. If we were 70 years old, we probably would have loved it.

We originally used the room as an office. However, this was changed after we got the puppy, because we rarely used the desk and it took up a lot of space (plus, there were just too many cords for the puppy to potentially chew on).

The room looked like this just before I started my work.

The change in process...

And now the big reveal...

You can't see it that well, but I put trim around all the edges of the bookcases to create a built-in look. The library also has lots of little storage areas, which is really nice. Now all the puppy stuff and extra pantry items are kept out of view behind the cabinet doors on the bookcase. The bench underneath the picture window is also more than just a bench.

Its also our CD storage! (and camera/picture storage)

Another example is the oh-so-handy pop-out desk. For the most part, it will stay as is like below (oh yeah, that's our new printer--it's sa-weet!).

But if we need some desk space to type on the computer or for some other purpose, we can just pull out the extra leg.

So, what do you think of the new library? And yes, Mom, you can pack up all those books that I've made you keep over the years. We definitely have room for them now!

Cover thief

Riley has a new game. She thinks its awesome. We are not so thrilled.

You see, every morning Duff and I carefully pull the duvet cover over the bed so that loads of puppy hair doesn't end up on our sheets and pillows. Riley has other plans.

The other day, I came out of the shower to find this:

Then, a few days later, this:

Each day, she dug herself in a little deeper, until you almost couldn't see her behind the sheets anymore.

Today, I came home from work and discovered how exactly she was working her magic.

There are no words.
