Puppy party
Mom and Dad came out for Memorial Day and brought their puppies with them. It was field spaniels everywhere for three days.

Happy Birthday, Dad!
As a surprise, we got Dad a cake for his birthday. Of course, we had to put his favorite puppies on it.
No, not Riley and Chase. That's actually Mac and Odie--Mom and Dad's dogs. Yes, they look a lot like our dogs. There will be much more on that later.

The stump to end all stumps
We have begun the tedious process of digging up the backyard to put in the paver patio. On our first day on the job, we encountered the stump to end all stumps.
The stump was about 3 inches underground (so we never even knew it was there). It was also the hardest wood we've ever encountered. We think it may have been a cedar stump, since the wood had a bright red color to it. We also broke two shovels during the over two hour ordeal of digging the stump out of th ground. One of the shovels snapped its wood handle but, on the other, we actually bent the metal. It was quite a sight to behold.
(Note to all: don't buy your shovels at Lowe's.)

But that didn't stop Chase from trying to turn it into dinner...
