Ouch!

Lately, K has been walking around chewing on his board books to soothe his teething pain. The other day, a book bit back.

Poor baby!

First Month

In celebration of Baby K's two month birthday (what?!? my baby can't be two months old already!!!), I am posting my favorite pictures from his first month/newborn photo session.  Because I'm timely like that...

At one month old, Baby K wasn't too good at (a) sitting still or (b) making angelic expressions.  He prefers faces that look something like this:

Anyway, despite his lack of compliance, he is a thriving boy.  At one month old his measurements came in at:

Height -- 22.75 inches
Weight -- 10 pounds, 15 ounces

As his doctor says, he's got that growing thing down. ;)

Number Two

Good news--Number Two is looking healthy and on-schedule.  And very active, apparently (which I, obviously, already knew from the very strong, very frequent kicks I've been feeling).

Here is a sneak peak at the little monster:

We don't know the gender yet--we have it written down and Duff and I will open the envelope together soon.  So hang in there.  However, to appease the masses, I will share some other baby-related news:  Number Two will be entering the world on June 25 (unless, for some unknown reason, we need to reschedule or Number Two decides to make an appearance earlier).  But, in all likelihood, Number Two's birthday will be June 25, 2014.

The Halloween that Wasn't

Because we didn't get our power back until Wednesday at 9 pm, trick or treating did not happen in our neighborhood.  We did, however, dress up JT in his costume(s).  Just because we could.

His first (and actual) Halloween costume was handmade by me.

He's a dunk, in case you were wondering.

JT's second costume I picked up at Old Navy when we went to the mall so the baby could have some heat before we went Grandma's.  I really bought it as a coat, since fleece jackets for babies run around $30 but fleece Halloween costumes were on clearance for $6.  Hey, a good deal is a good deal, people!

Plus, he looks adorable. ;)

2 Legit 2 Quit

At two months old, JT is measuring in at:

11 lbs, 1 ounce
24 inches tall

That means he has grown 1 pound and 1.5 inches in the last 30 days.  Goodness!  He has also greatly increased his repertoire of expressions and is much more mobile than at 1 month old.  Hence the variety of outtakes for this month.

The classic "why are you doing this to me" expression:

Cuddling with Grover:

The politician's "let me explain something to you" hand gesture:

The "maybe if I hide she'll stop taking pictures" expression:

More cuddling with Grover.

This is what we like to call the "grumpy face."

I have no commentary except to say I love this picture. Lol.

Chase also wanted to get in on the picture taking.  It is his baby, after all. On a related note, someone was walking their baby past our house and it started to cry.  The dogs went crazy.   They thought it was their baby and they were doing everything they could to get out there to make sure everything was ok.

 Telling secrets to Grover.

 Sad face.

JT doing his bicycle legs.

 Karate chop.

Grumpy face while in frog pose. A classic.

And if anyone is wondering how difficult it is to photograph a two month old, this video is for you.  Keep in mind that this is near the end of the photo session after he had calmed down a little and was less determined to escape.

One thing I noticed in the pictures is how much JT's face has changed in the last month.  Just look at his one month versus his two month:

He's starting to look less like a newborn and more like a unique person every day.

Smiles

JT has been smiling a lot lately.   But it can be very tricky to capture on camera.  For example, this is a series of pictures in which Duff tried to capture one of JT's smiles.

Well, he got one good smile in the whole bunch.  The rest just crack me up!

Baller

A week ago, we had some of the basketball team over for dinner. JT dressed up for the occasion.

Totally baller.  Lol.

Holy water, Batman!

While we were in Wisconsin, we had JT baptized at my home church.  It was really special to have such an important event at the same place where I attended Sunday school and confirmation and where I taught vacation bible school.  I'm glad that JT will have one memory at Trinity where I have so many memories.

It was also special because all of the Wisconsin aunts and uncles were able to attend.

And they know how to bring the party...

Good thing JT is Irish.  There will be plenty more where that come from!
