Christmas Cake

I forgot to post pictures of the cake we ordered for Christmas from the local bakery...and there's no time like the present (happy Spring everyone!).  This was not a special order cake--they just decorated it however they wanted.  And I have to say, the amount of work they put into decorating a basic $20 cake is impressive.

And it tasted as good as it looked (maybe better)!

The Flower Show

Every once in a while, I get a really great opportunity thanks to where I work.  Last week was one of those weeks.  A group of us were invited by a senior partner to attend the Philadelphia Flower Show, which is one of the city's biggest events.  I didn't know what to expect when I agreed to attend but I am more than glad that I did.  It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.  Unfortunately, we saw most of the really interesting exhibits near the beginning of our personal tour when I was too shy to drag out my camera, but by the time we got to the first place display, I could hold back no longer.  Isn't this the most incredible floral display you've ever seen (I apologize for the quality of the pictures--the light in the convention center was terrible).

The Flower Show had a Paris theme this year, so the above display was of a Paris salon from back in the day.   There was also an Eiffel tower.

Not all of the displays were as ornate as the one above, but they were all beautiful (again, most of the truly impressive ones I did not get pictures of).

They have special competitions as part of the show.  Here were the front porch entrants:

They also did shop windows.  This was my favorite:

If you ever have the opportunity to attend the Philadelphia Flower Show, definitely go.  Its amazing!

The countdown continues

One month and counting...

We're going out to visit baby Chase next weekend.  Can't wait!  In our excitement, we've decided to go puppy shopping this weekend.  A new plush dragon, a new crate and a Phillies collar are on the list.  Also, a possible surprise for Mack and Beemer (Mom and Dad's dogs who we will also see next weekend).  Aren't puppies the most fun (until they wake you up at 2 am to go outside--my least favorite part--or have a #2 accident in their crate--Duff's least favorite part)?  Time to start hiding the electrical cords again...

Also, in case anyone is still holding out hope for this blog, I've been collecting pictures on my camera for about the last 4 months.  One of my new goals is to start posting more regularly.  Here's hoping...
