Starting Solids

Or, as my secretary named it, "Wearing Solids."

The time finally arrived to start the little guy on solid foods.  You can start them any time between 4 to 6 months but we opted for the 6 month mark after waaaaaaaaay too much research and what worked best with our schedules (basketball season is over--can I get an hallelujah?!?).

Anyway, the first step was collecting all the correct materials.  I generally select JT's feeding paraphernalia based on three important characteristics: (1) fun colors; (2) fun shapes; and (3) cartoon characters.

I also seem to have inadvertently developed a teal theme.

We thought we would start by introducing the sippy cup.  He kind-of-sorta gets the point.

Next we moved on to mashed sweet potatoes (its a white sweet potato, in case you were wondering).

He is less than certain about this development.

We soon learned that far more of JT's dinner ends up everywhere except in his mouth.

The state of cleanliness did not approve on day two.  Although we did learn to feed JT in the buff.

Its torture, people.  Torture.

And for the record, this is day five or six.

Baby 1, Parents 0.
